I’m by no means suggesting that you book every shore excursion with Princess, or even that you need an excursion in every cruise port. However, there are times when it’s a good idea to book an excursion. Most cruise lines offer an on-board booking incentive program, and generally they are advantageous. Princess Cruises has a really good one, which I believe is very worth it. If you’re cruising for the first time, or even if you’ve cruised a few times, you may not be aware of the advantages of booking your “next” cruise on board.
Before You Go: Last Minute Tips
I booked through the web site on my own and hoped for the best. Although he doesn't seem to be that popular, that someone is filling the ships with cruisers who spend more money than the so called loyal existing customers. These additional onboard credits can be substantial – if you are a veteran or in the military, please inquire about the military benefit when booking with your travel agent or Princess directly. Princess is celebrating its 40th anniversary of Mediterranean sailing by featuring two of its newest and largest ships – Star Princess® and Sun Princess®.

However, many people find that their TA is unavailable when needed the most. A good way to find a good TA is to ask people when you are on the ship. Talk to people from your Roll Call Thread here on CC.
Are drinks and coffee included?
We’ve done a few family cruises, couples only cruises, and even one large family cruise – I highly recommend Princess for multi-generational travel. Delight in South America’s vibrant cultures and stunning landscapes and get swept away by the breathtaking beauty of Antarctica. Experience the thrill of sailing through the Strait of Magellan, the 19th-century treasures of Buenos Aires or cruise through the icy waterways of the Antarctic Peninsula. Explore the landscape of the California Coast and visit world-famous cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Santa Barbara. See iconic landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge, Coronado Bay and Griffith Observatory. Or escape to renowned vineyards for an award-winning wine.
I book the best deal I can get for what I want. These days it's anybody's guess as to whether you will get a good Princess Travel Advisor. If your Travel Advisor is not responsive look elsewhere. I "think" you can even ask for a different person from Princess. The bottom line is that it is your money that is at stake and, if you are not getting a quick response, it is your money that can "walk" elsewhere.
On a voyage spanning more than 100 days, and travelling over 33,000 nautical miles, you’ll visit more than 40 destinations in over two dozen countries. In 2025, Island Princess will sail an 116-day World Cruise – our longest ever. From mariachis to margaritas, the Mexican Riviera is where it all began with our first cruise in 1965. More than 50 years later, we still visit the best ports like Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán and less-traveled jewels like Loreto and Manzanillo. Sail from Los Angeles or San Francisco on five- to 11-day roundtrip cruises, and stay overnight in Cabo San Lucas on select voyages for a taste of vibrant nightlife. Relax on top-rated beaches, explore ancient ruins and get immersed in colorful cultures — the laidback Caribbean has lots to love for everyone.

Now I have to contact him for changes and it really annoys me. If things go wrong with any aspects with the cruise line we are taking, I much rather deal with a TA that is not employed and directed by that cruise line. Feel there could be a conflict of interest if they are working for the cruise line.
Pick up your Medallion in port (or provide any other incomplete travel checklist items)
Just asking how do others feel re booking of their Cruises. I have used Princess Direct and a Travel Agent and now have been directed to a Princess Cruise Planner. I am a bit worried about the time that the Cruise Planner takes to reply to some of my queries.
For your own reference, you can mark an event to indicate that you want to attend. When you are on a Princess cruise ship, you will get a daily activities schedule every day. You can stay on the cruise ship during port days if you want.
Download the brand new Princess® Cruises App and take your upcoming cruise to the next level of ease and convenience. I would look for those small home agents that do a ton of business and have low overhead. The odd thing is that you don't see the difference between this and the real estate realtor situation you compared this to. I am guessing you were not calling Princess daily or weekly but they were still doing the work on the booking. So it was the best of both worlds for you and your agent but not for Princess who was servicing your booking until the transfer.
Fast Forward to the last year as we started trying to get back to cruising again since the restart. Cruise prices are good for now but Elite Perks are vanishing before our eyes. Yes I know there are people with thousands of days and hundreds of cruises and I know there are those who don’t worry about perks like we do. Princess claims to be ahead of the technology game with Medallion Net so I would expect the one and only tool Princess directs is to use is full of faults.
One time when I didn't get a call back somehow I ended up talking to my current PVP who was, as previously stated, friendly and responsive. We got a balcony during a 'sale' and I'm happy with what we paid $1200 with $100 OBC pp and I got the cabin where I wanted. I like a good deal like everyone but if I can cruise for less than $100/day CDN for a prime balcony, I'm not going to drive myself crazy by chasing other deals and sales. I hate to say it but I tend to agree with your assessment. The loyal cruisers get more freebies and often tend to spend less money. They have already done the excursions and, if they want them again, they have learned to book them privately.
There have been several times that I've delayed or cancelled time off during critical program times as I was providing an important function for the company. Admittedly, our customers were doing things much more important than booking a cruise. So, @AE_Collector I strongly recommend finding a travel agent, developing a relationship, and using them to book your future cruises and not book directly through Princess. I think your pre-cruise booking experience will be much better.
They can still stand in line at shows to see if they can get in though. You mention that a loyalty program is important to you. I have read that those who sail RCI say they are happiest with the offered loyalty program. You might look into whether or not RCI would work for you. Princess had the best perks in my mind and that combined with our “go to cabin type” being a relatively inexpensive Obstructed Oceanview kept us cruising on Princess as many as 88 days a year.
If you use Princess Future Cruise Deposits that adds another $150 OBC... If you own Carnival stock, that adds ANOTHER $250 OBC, and if you are a military vet, that adds ANOTHER $250 OBC. Easy to work with and re-fared my cruise retaining OBC even though the published rate said for new fares only and no OBC. Princess Cruises Love Boat Dream – While this isn’t my personal favorite, it’s certainly popular and perhaps the most romantic dessert on the menu.
